Ok.. Now this I can understand:

1 S.t.B

But this was pretty bad:

58 ricoM
60 SirFWALGMan

then I see this freaking crap:

57 louddwnunder

Then the straw that broke the Camels back:

55 Katitude

and what the fuck is this?

54 DuggleBogey

Ah well at least this soothed my pain a little bit..

63 Boobie Lover

Party Poker

I hate that site usually. Well, hate it too strong. However.. I heard of all these $75 bonus deposits so I thought I would load it up and see. When I logged in it offered me free money so WHY NOT?!?!? I blew it in a 55$/SNG. AK vs AJ vs 79. I make it like $300 to go pre- and get beat by a turned flush and a rivered runner flush when I push in on the K high flop. Who knew. I lost a $44 LHE tourney too. Wait, $44+$55 is $99 right? Oh yeah, I played some limit. About ten minutes. Made about fifty. So I had $5 left to deal with. I jumped on the .50/1 tables. I ran that up to $20. Who knew? I guess I might give it a try tomorrow. REALLY BAD PLAYERS.

What's in a Search?

I was kind of bummed while checking out my primary search term matches. Well, they speak for themselves, "How to make a man hot", and "How to raise a turkey".. um, yeah, great, I have finally hit the big time..

Return of the Pink Five

One of our very own has an internet movie out. He has been working VERY hard on it and is very excited. He is currently crashing rent-free with Texas, so go and let Chris Hanel AKA FilmGeek know what you thing. You can watch the Return of the Pink Five: Episode I on Atom Films. Please make sure you go past the credits to see the scenes from the next episode. I almost missed this.

So as far as I can tell there is only one pink chick not five and she is kinda hot. I wonder if the director was getting any? If I produced a film I would get some for sure. I will probably need to see the prior movies to figure out what the five means. Perhaps Chris will give me an interview. The movie itself is fantastic. It is funny and I enjoyed it alot. The official website has some extra stuff too. The film is being featured on which is super cool too! Chris has a picture of the back of his head as he is doing something with his lightsaber. As Chris said "I can now die".

Chris is the Visual Effects Supervisor. Hmm.. So he looks at the lightsaber and says, Nahh, too much orange? I have no idea. I have never produced a movie and really have no idea what is involved. I am sure with something like this you end up doing alot. Knowing Chris and reading some of his past posts I know he put alot of blood, sweat, and tears into this thing and I am glad the fruits of his labor are finally coming to bear. Good Job Chris and best to you in the future!

Friends of the Heita

AlCantHang has stooped too low now! He has a Frappr friend from Baghdad, Iraq. Probably offered him MP3's of wounded American soldiers or something.. Anything to get ahead of me.. This alleged terrorist is a member of FriendsOfTheHeita. Now if that is not an splinter group I do not know what one is. Please support America and sign my Frappr map instead of Al's. It is your patriotic duty.

** UPDATE: Oops. It is not FriendsOfTheHeita.. it is Friends of the Italian Opera. I guess the URL was truncated. Please continue on. Nothing to see here.

Get over it..

Your in an MTT. Your M is under six. You are basically on the ropes with not alot of hope left. So you get the hammer. It is a blogger tourney. What the hell? What is the worse thing that could happen? You might as well have some fun on your way out. So you make a huge raise steal and get re-raised by AK. Nothing to lose now. Except you double up! Woo hoo! Go Hammer! Then some donkey calls you names. No class.

** UPDATED: One other thing. If I have an M<6 and I feel I need to push, I would much rather have two live cards then pushing with crap like AJo. The range of likely hands to call me is going to contain an Ace, and if it is not a made pair, then my 72o is much more likely to stand up than any Ace rag I could push with. Solid play there Kat.

Poker is Gay

Ahh well.. after a few days of losing I decided to cash out. I am down $600 in the past few weeks so I cashed out another $500 to leave me with $800 to play with. I think I will stick with the 180's where I made my money in the first place. Play some cash too. I mean who could ask for a better game then one where someone re-raises your 3xBB raise with A2 against your TT.. and luckboxes out to hit his ace. Sweet game! I shall return and I shall play you like the beautiful woman you are.. slow, steady, winning, game..

Just some random thoughts for the day as my bankroll fluctuates slightly but does not really make me nervous..

I was thinking, Why push pre-flop? Now I know this is a wild overstatement. However.. I am so willing to go all in pre-flop with my QQ, KK, even my AA or AK. Is it necessary? Sometimes probably.. I do think that the better a player I become the less I will need to do this.

Which way should you play your cash games? I know there are a ton of nut peddlers and I can see that strategy working. I think there is alot of merit in it. If you are patient and can wait for that one nut hand you get a night then sweet. If you do not get any action on that hand, well there is always tomorrow night. The other side of the street says it is only one buyin. If you are ahead on the flop why not push your 10% edge with TPTK against the other guys overcards? Sure you get sucked out on alot but is it worth it? Is there a middle ground. Folding your weaker good hands and playing the stronger ones harder. Hard to say. I suppose it depends on being able to get the same amount of money in the middle every time.

Is limit or NL more fun? Which is more profitable?

Is the amount of fun you have sucking out on people worth the -EV. I know I am still laughing this morning. Does Luckbox Kung-Foo style have its place in MTT's? I am starting to think it might. Would it be fun to play .01/.02 NLHE and just try and make every horrible draw imaginable just to have people yell at you.. I think that might be a lot of fun..

See you all at the DADI tonight.. after I get some grasshoppers to feed to my frogs..

Cash Game with Flux

I played the cash game with Fluxer watching my back. I did pretty well. He is a great teacher. He made me play a hand more aggressively than I normally would. The situation was this. I had pocket 8's and call the normal 2.50 raise pre-flop trying to hit my set. Instead the flop comes 567. Ouch. Dangerous. So the initial bettor puts in a bet of 8.50. I raises $8.50 to $17. He re-raises $23.50 to $40.50. So there is sixty in the pot and I have 18 left behind. I have to call at this point even though I am only 40% to win. Instead I decide to push my entire stack. Calling is for wimps. He calls. I think min-raising might have been a mistake but the rest of the hand drew me along. The laugh I got after the hand was over and I scooped in my chips was nice.

PrinceHal: that iS TWICE
SirFWALGMan: hee haw I can buy hey with your money

PrinceHal: i knew exactly whaty ou had
SirFWALGMan: exactly?
PrinceHal: and figured youd call allin with tit
PrinceHal: you ****ing idiot
PrinceHal: yep
PrinceHal: 88
SirFWALGMan: I didnt call all in
SirFWALGMan: and I dont remember stacking you twice
SirFWALGMan: your the one who called all in

PrinceHal: you called my all in with Ak and you had KQ
PrinceHal: and sucked a three outed
PrinceHal: then you just made that terribly play
SirFWALGMan: oh yeah
SirFWALGMan: that wasnt a cash game though
PrinceHal: oh you reraised 8 more dollars on $90 pot
SirFWALGMan: and I had more outs here
PrinceHal: ****ing idiot
PrinceHal: nice play
PrinceHal: you got worked both time

SirFWALGMan: lol
SirFWALGMan: I had a zillion outs though
PrinceHal: you mean 10?
SirFWALGMan: plus this is riverstars
PrinceHal: you mean a 39% chance??
PrinceHal: is that what you mean?

PrinceHal: because i dont like to get allin with less than 40% chance to win
PrinceHal: although im sure to a donkey like you that seems like a sure thing
SirFWALGMan: ya anything over 22% is good for me
PrinceHal: you played that hand like such a ****ing donkey
PrinceHal: you could have drawn to those "zillion outs"
PrinceHal: for $8
PrinceHal: but instead you raised
PrinceHal: and let me get all the chips in
PrinceHal: ****ing fool

SirFWALGMan: you should be saying thank you
SirFWALGMan: I gave you a 60% chance to win
SirFWALGMan: man I give you a lead and you cant even bring it home

Oh well, that is why I hate them bitches!

Top 100 Things you Never Wanted to Know about SirFWALGMan
1. I am an INTJ type of personality. Other famous people of my type are C. S. Lewis, John F. Kennedy, and Dan Aykroyd and Hannibal, the Carthaginian military leader, not the cannibal. Apparently we are a varied people.
2. I started playing poker seriously about two years ago. Around the same time I started this blog. I had only played a few home games before that. The usual games there were Racism (Black Cards Do Not Count), Affirmative Action (Red Cards Do Not Count), and Texas Sweat which involves flipping cards until you have the best hand and betting each round. It can get expensive.
3. I love Science Fiction. I used to read a book or two a day when I was younger. I am talking about 300+ page books.
4. I love cheezy Science Fiction movies. Killer clown from outer space is one of my favorites. Frankenhooker was not bad either. Who can pass up undead-boobies killing people.
5. I like the taste of blood. Usually my own. This leads me to beleive I either have an iron deficiency or I have Vampiric blood in my past somewhere. The fact that I hate sunlight is a good indicator too.
6. I am an old fart. I just recently turned 37 and I feel about 200 years old.
7. I used to own a 1990 Mustang LX 5.0. It hauled ass and looked good with my leather jacked.
8. I love video games. I used to play them all the time but have not found the time lately. I actually treat poker like a video game and I want to be the best at it. I want to beat the game.
9. The first computer I owned was a TI/994a. It was a cartridge based system with a basic programming language. I liked the Dungeons & Dragons game on it alot.
10. I used to play street fighter until my thumbs blead. I loved that game. Lucky I built up callouses.
11. I had a Pac Man cheat book and I could score so many points that it rolled back to zero.
12. Dungeon and Dragons type games are my favorite which is why I refuse to play WoW. I know I will disapear and my wife and kids will need to get accounts to talk to me. really.
13. I was accident prone as a kid. Either that or my parents beat me alot. I had stitches 5 times at least, three broken arms, and numerous other accidents.
14. I love Sushi! I am a big fan of appitizers in general but a whole food type that is all appitizers! WOW!
15. I enjoy a good argument. I know you guys are all shocked. Sometimes I say things on the blog to get a response and cause a deep conversation to occur. I usually learn alot if this happens. I am willing to argue any side of the issue, just as long as I get to enjoy arguing.
16. I am the least technical gadget techie you will ever meet. I mean I can program circles around most people but my PC is three years old, I have never had an IPOD, and my TV is from the stone age. No HD or nothing! So shoot me.
17. I am totally deaf in one ear. I lost my hearing as a baby because my parent refused to take me to the doctors until my eardrum shattered. Yeah, they had issues.
18. If your a gold digging hottie I would have been the guy for you. I spend about 10$ a week including gas and food on myself, in turn I make thousands a week at work (gross not net). I really have very few needs so it's all your girls.
19. I am married with children. I have two little cuties ages 3 and 7. One boy one girl. I am done.
20. To the hotties from paragraph 18, I am not very happily married at this point, but I am pretty loyal. I do not see myself sleeping with any of you. Sorry. I know your all dissapointed now. I do hope to get my marriage and life in better shape but I have not done anything to fix myself yet.
21. I have never been arrested or in trouble with the law.
22. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Anime, Manga (and Hentai). I know the difference between two of the three. Some of my favorite series are Naruto (I have the first 160 episodes on AVI), Full Metal Alchemist, and Inuyasha.
23. Since I have said I like Sushi, and Anime, the next logical step: I love Japanese women. I think they are so hot. Actually to be more specific I love the American idea of what Japanese women are like. I have never actually dated one so I would not know how the reality was.
24. I like School Girl uniforms. Probably for the same reason I like the idea of Japanese women. I tend to be fairly passive in life and it is sexually exciting to take control.
25. I like to give up control too.. a Dominatrix would be fun. Ok, maybe I am just a pervert. I think that must be it.
26. I don't do subtle. It is just not me. Sorry.
27. I consider myself an above average but not genius programmer. I make a living contract programming and enjoy it. I usually take advantage of the places I work at by coming in late, wearing jeans, and things of that sort. In return I give excellent work and make myself invaluable. I am currently doing mostly C# programming and alot of XML/XSLT work.
28. I think South Park is brilliant. I have a ton of seasons on AVI and enjoy watching them. I also have the original pilots to the show.
29. I never knew Poker Players had ghost writers and I am dissapointed.
30. I hate when people break the rules. Like going straight in the left lane. I feel like running my car into you.
31. Some of my favorite Science Fiction includes Douglas Adams, Stephen Donaldson, Anne Rice, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Frank Herbert, and the list goes on and on.
32. I used to want to be a writer of childrens books. Every story I wrote as a kid my classmates loved. I swear I wrote a story entitled Candy Land and it was so good my teacher stole it and published it years later.
33. I had a dream once that 10 midgets ran out of my wall, picket me up, and tried to take me back to there world. I have no idea what they wanted. I grabbed the edge of my wall and they could not get me through. So they gave up. I beleive this dream happened before I saw the movie Phantasm.
34. I LOVE horror movies. I think there is an escapism theme going on here. hmm. Steven King books are great. I hate most of the movie interpretations.
35. I know over ten programming languages. Including five or six extremely well. I love to try new things.
36. I can barely speak or spell English. I failed most verbal language classes including Spanish and French. I did pick up a little German while trying to get into the pants of a hot redheaded German girl. What can I say, women inspire me.
37. I used to wear gerranimals, and had a velour shirt. My parents really set me up for a tough life as a kid.
38. I used to be a straight tighty-whitey kind of guy. However people including my wife have slipped in Sponge Bob Boxers, Scoobie Doo Silk Boxers, and some weird ass tighty-whities that actually are almost like shorts. The legs are a little longer than usual. It makes it hard to pee.
39. My son owns two tree frogs. I love those suckers. They pounce on the crickets and gulp them up in one bite. Man can they jump!
40. I am over two fists long when fully aroused and let's face it guys, as long as you can get two hands around it, does anything else matter?
41. I am so good at computers because I spent my years from 13 until now spending a TON of time on them. It makes me uniquely qualified to become an online poker player because I do not mind sitting still for hours and hours.
42. When I first started blogging I wanted to be a professional player. Who could blame me. I was extremely successful. Not enough to where I could give it a try but I had a good first year. The idea of playing professionally has now lost alot of its shine.
43. My favorite poker player is Howard Lederer. For some reason I think his sister is sexy. I am not sure why.
44. I hate skinny women. Not because they will not sleep with me but because seeing all those bones sticking out of your rib area really grosses me out. I do not like chicken bones either. If some hot skinny women wanted to change my mind about all of you I might attempt it for science sake. I would have to get my wife's permission first.
45. I think my favorite hand in poker is 22. I love the ducks. I like quacking. The number two is my favorite number. I hate KK.
46. My favorite blogger in the whole world is ******. Sorry I can not say. Of course this is probably a good way to start rumors.
47. I tend to steal peoples catch phrases. I do not mean to. I just like them. My latest victim is Trauma's "That's just how I roll". Your so cool Trauma!
48. I had a tough 8th-12th grades. My parents moved around and you never fit in. Additionally my hearing problems and introverted nature probably made me seem weird. Oh well.
49. I have a small group of close personal friends but I am fiercely loyal to them and would do a hell of a lot to help them out.
50. My best friend John I met on the internet. We used to trade software when we were bad children. He is extremely smart and more extroverted than me. Very cool guy.
51. I tend to act very quickly while playing poker. I almost always know what I want to do or accomplish by a bet, call or fold. I am always looking for new ways to play also.
52. I played dungeons and dragons when I was younger. This was before it was a video game or a massively multi player game. It was better back then. You had to story tell to keep interest. I enjoyed it alot.
53. I played rogue on unix machines when I was younger. I was never any good at it.
54. I lost my virginity to a fat chick who was totally drunk. It did not take very long as was sort of a let down after waiting 21 years. The next woman I slept with I married. I sometimes think I should have tried a few more in between.
55. I hate bars and loud parties mostly because I am deaf in one ear and can not hear a fricken thing people are saying when there is alot of noise around me. So I have to smile and pretend I can hear your drunken ranting.
56. I play a MEAN game of DRUNK POOL. I once bet a Gynecologist that I could make an amazing cut shot when I was stone drunk. The deal was I get to scrub up and watch one of his exams. He agreed since nobody could ever make that shot. I won. He never paid.
57. I used to be suicidaladventurous. I would cliff jump, climb mountains with no rope, and I even have even tried sky diving. I found it to be boring. It was too sureal to be scary.
58. I never liked school. I would go half the year, get straight A+'s and then skip the other half. My reasoning was that it averaged out in C's and I passed. Nobody ever held me back a year so I guess I was right.
59. My wife is a smart lady. She got a scholarship to Smith college in Western MA. Huge GPA, giant brain, very smart. Unfortionatly she is not practical as her degree was in History and English and that qualifies you for a job as the manager of McDonalds. She wants to go back to school and become a doctor. I think she would make a fine physician.
60. I sleep hard. I once fell out of my bed (top bunk), landed on the floor, and never woke up. On the morning I was confused as to how I ended up on the ground.
61. My dog Charlie was sent to "The Farm" when I was in 6th grade. To this day my parents will not admit that they killed him. I only started suspecting this when I was 21. I am not a very suspicious person by nature.
62. I think my parents had sex, got pregnant, and had to get married. It is the only way I can see them together. The timeline between my birth and there marriage is very close too. I have endless fun bringing this up.
63. I have no idea how long the men in my family live. My father and grandfather both died of cancer from smoking. Grandpa also gave it to my aunt who was 18 at the time and several years younger than me. It was the first time I experienced someone I knew dieing.
64. I have never been a good fighter. I just do not have it in me to inflict physical pain on another person. Mental anguish is another story.
65. I have no idea why people read my blog. It is one of the mysteries of the universe.
66. I used to have alot of weird theories, like, that babies are super genius's and each second they get older they get dumber. They keep trying to tell us how to solve the worlds problems but we can not understand there advanced language and by the time they can speak in our monkey grunts they have lost too much brainpower to be useful. I have too much freetime. Another one of my theories was that you need three wives. One is the Sex Slave wife. She is a hottie with no brains and you bang her. The second wife is the housewife. She cleans, cooks, and takes care of you. She has the children and brings them up. The third wife is the intellectual and interesting one. She is the one who is the most fun to talk to. Since that theory I have become married and I think one is too many.
67. I used to be a bible banger. I grew up non-religiously and got into the bible when I was in my twenties. I could quote you book, line, verse from any chapter of the old or new testament. I even converted people to Christ! Now I am a searcher. The general idea of Christianity as portrayed by modern man does not sit well with me. I would be more than willing to have a conversation on theology but in general I find the two camps you see totally wrong. You have the people who are all brimstone and hellfire. I have issues beleiving in a god who would send you to hell because you were brought up Muslim for instance and did think Christ was your savior. I have equal problem with people who say the bible is interpretive and not literal. I think that allows you to make up anything you want and I can not go with that solution either. I will let you know if god comes down and starts teaching me poker. Otherwise I will keep searching.
68. I used to program on a commie-64 computer. It had a great sprite engine for writing games. PEEK-POKE. Bam, you have moving graphics. It was alot of fun. I wrote my first game on it: Farmers Daughter. You had to make your way across the screen and get the farmers daughter. All the while dodging the farmers pitchforks. It was interesting.
69. I am pale. I do not get much sunlight. Once a year I go to Jersey City and soak in the sun for a week. I relax, hit the boardwalk, swim, tan, and have a great time.
70. The biggest bankroll I have had playing poker is $3200 or so. I blew it overnight. I built it over a year. My current bankroll is at $2050. I build it over a few days. Although it took a year to get over losing my first bankroll. I beleive I am ready to be a massively winning player now.
71. I am a winning poker player. I know. Its a huge shock to me. I have only put $800 into poker over the past two years. I have $2050 current and I cashed out another $500 recently. So I am moderatly ahead. I am not satisfied with this.
72. I am currently reading Zen and the Art of Poker. It is a must read. It uses short paragraphs so even Veneno can read it.
73. I suck at drinking. However I give it a good try every once in a while. I once drank so much I puked for 12hrs straight. I shit you not. My friends were going to bring me to the hospital, instead they took my Mustang for a drive, well, there not very good friends. I am not sure what got me. When I chugged the bottle of Bacardi's or the bottle of Vodka. Hmm. Perhapse the beer? Al?
74. I tend to binge drink at least once every five years. I always regret it. It always ends in puking. My father was an alcoholic so I stay away from regular hits of the bottle. He took me to a bar when I was five and I started crying for some reason. He quit drinking as much soon afterwards.
75. My father was pretty opposite of me. He had many jobs in his life, always blue collar. He was a mechanic, a cross-country trucker, a soldier, a welder, a nursing home aid, and many many other jobs. He was excellent with his hands. He went to the Nam and was a gunner on a chopper. Interesting guy. I never really got close to him though.
76. My mother is opposite of both me and my father. She is a quiet little mousey woman. I was never close with her either. However she still lives. The women in my family line have HUGE lifelines and live forever. However they decay quickly and end up looking like the living dead.
77. I have one sister and in Obie Wans words: "You'll not find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy". You give her a christmas gift and she finds a receipt with your credit card number and runs up 3K in bills. Enough said. I pressed charged both times but no jail yet as my parents bailed her ass out for the zillionth time.
78. My favorite color is purple. Ok call me a fag, I like it.
79. Since you already think I am a fag I might as well go the whole way, I have seen my best friend John naked. That is gay isnt it? He has seen me naked too. We used to live together for many years. The first time we shared an apartment in woburn. My car was stolen around five times. Woburn sucks. The second time he wanted to take the summer off and try and start a business. So I offered to put him up rent free for a while. That surely has to be gay. It worked out good except he spent more time flirting with the pool girl than getting business. So finally I kicked him out. He owes all his success to me. We have not had sex.
80. I met my wife through a co-worker who was getting tired of fending off my sexually repressed advances on her. She was a hottie.
81. My Sperm are SUPER POTENT! You might even get pregnant from grabbing my junk. If you do not beleive me try it! I have shot twice in my wife and scored both times. All other times were with a jimmy cap. You can not get better than 2-for-2 baby! Some people try there whole lives and can not do it.
82. I love animals. I have had Birds, Dogs, Cats, Fish, and Frogs. I would like ferrets, lizards, snakes, and other types of animals but I will need to get divorced first.
83. I have some decent hacking skills. Nowhere near the uber-skills of the super hackz0rz, but I do goot. I tend to be a white hat, which means I do security probes and auditing to protect people. In school however I teamed up with my arch nemesis: the night school's smart kid, and we locked the entire school out of the DEC. The principal had to beg me to let them back in. It was a nice ego booster. It was my lazy teachers fault anyways. He gave everyone ADMIN rights to the DEC because he was too lazy to set permissions, and he left all the DEC manuals laying around. So what is a kid to do? I taught myself the DEC OS, which is all script based, rewrote portions of it, and made it so I could never be locked out. I was bored. He also had stupid passwords like: Blonde. Oh, and teacher, I am sorry I got you fired, it made my heart twinge a little seeing you bagging at that Stop & Shop.
84. I have never had a poker tutor or a disciple. I could see both being interesting in there own ways. However nothing has presented itself yet. Veneno has her own style and I would ruin her. Nobody else is interested. So I dole out a tip here and there and feel good when people take major steps up. Nobody has really stepped up to teach me about poker either. Although reading blogs and books has been invaluable.

I have never had one. The best show I ever saw was when Lenea (porn star in such favorites as Load Warrior) visited a bar in Stoughton. She had sweet smelling smoke and was dressed in a HUGE southern bell hoop skirt. She proceeded to put it over the top of my friend John's head and grind away. He was never the same afterwards.

So it hurt like hell. Although it is nice to still be able to feel it.
95. I "should" wear glasses however I hate them. I never wear them. The only reason I got them was because I failed the eye test for my drivers license. Keep up Kiddies

Keep up because I have alot to cover today. First off I am truely dissapointed to note that the Blogfather does not read my blog. He says that he does. I am one of his favorite bloggers, etc, etc.. but when I asked him about the Blue Veiner tourney he looked at me with those little blank dwarven eyes and said "huh?". PROOF POSITIVE! You can never trust the wee little people. So if you have not signed up get ready to. I have yet to join myself.

Next up on the pimpage is the DADI:V. A lot of good prizes available in this one. Jordon and Tripjax make that part of the blogsphere a great place to hang out. See you guys there on monday.

Even more pimpage. I went to this website and said Paul who? Ohhhh.. Dr. Pauly. Mr. McGrupp. However Paul McGuire.. never! I thought someone stole his image and was pretending to be him.

I told Katitude that she was starting a trend.. Now I have seen a few Top 100 things about me lists.. I am almost done with the Top 100 Things You Never Wanted to Know about SirFWALGMan. Some good stuff. You are so going to regret starting this!

Drewspop - BAMBALAM!

I started the night on a dismal note dropping a nice $100 or so very quickly. I felt a little tilty so I played a 180/SNG with Drewspop. Now I have lost my mojo for this week. Perhaps I shall regain it later. However.. Drewspop has assumed the mantle and since I took 20% of that bitch. I actually made some good money. A whole $145 for his second place performance. If I could type faster he might have made first. Oh well. He did aewsome!!! Congrats!

I also found some crack cocain game called the 25 Turbo SNG. Single table. Idiots. Pushing alot. I took first twice for another $225 or so. If that is not enough success for you train wreck watchers to slink back to your holes, I also achived SILVER VIP STATUS!! DUHNN DUHNNNNN DNNANANA! I rock.

Toothless in Seatle

Not too much going on. I totally donkeyed out of the Mookie. I had pocket 9's and someone had raised pre-flop. The conversation on the flop of all small cards went something like this:

I raised 500. "Sir, Do you have a better hand than 99?"
He re-raises me all in "Why yes sir, I do".
I call, "Oh, ok, here, have the rest of my chips"

Listen to the conversation at the table people. It means something.

Reading Zen and the Art of poker. I got it for free. A blogger sent it to me and even paid the shipping! Random quotes from it will be coming:

Most of the trouble in poker occurs through our love affair with the "now" -- with impatience, with trying to hurry up the game. Players want to win now, today. Results must happen now, in this hand, the one right in front of us.

I full agree with this. Especially when I lost my 3K bankroll and went on a year long crazy man escapade. I wanted to make all that money back immediatly. It does not really happen that way kids. I also got into trouble because I wanted to win every night. So I would go up levels and try and keep myself ahead.

I had a decent night after the Mook. I tried the 10$ MTT and busted out. I had four people all in and the K high flush draw. I figured that if I won that one hand I would be set. There were only 300 peeps left. Around 10K in the pot. I had already bluffed into the pot also. So I called with my remaining 1800 or so and blinds at 75-150 and took my shot. The flush and/or the K never came. Someone else had limped with KK so that out was pretty dead. Although that person was the short stack and a K would have given me another two players chips. Nobody else had any flush cards. I like taking the opportunity there. I may have folded if I had not bluffed into the pot already. Like I said if I hit a heart I am golden. So I have no problem with that play.

I sat down at a .50/1 LHE table with Drewspop and Mookie. I was basically trying to clear my remaining 39 points to become silver. Just goofing around after a nice night at 3/6.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about that one, I had K3h and was facing a raise. Three guys had limped in already and on this table I knew they were all going to call. I also felt intuitively that I was going to make some money in this hand. So I call the raise. All the people after me do so also. The flop comes K3. One heart. ZANG! I cold call and I beleive one guy drops out. The turn is another heart. So I raise the inital betttor. He makes it three bets and I cap. I think we lose all of our friends here except one. The river comes a sweet ass Ace of hearts giving me the nutz. He bets and I raise, he calls, our third buddy stays in with us too. The initial raiser Flips over AA. I take a nice $78 pot and call it a night.

Anyhow.. back to cooling off at the .50/1 table. I have AQs with a few limpers before me so I raise it on up. It is not my fault these turkeys do not know how to fold. I get five or six callers pre-flop. LOVE IT! The flop comes 456 none of my suit. I insta-fold. The guy Baum then starts laying into me about raising pre-flop and folding to a bet post flop. If I know anything it is when to give it up. Best case I am drawing to six outs, worse case I am drawing dead to the straight. No reason to continue here. We mix it up a little. I think my favorite line was:

Sir: How did you afford that truck? Did you spend the dollars the tooth fairy gave you for your last two teeth?

It was a fun table. I ended up leaving down a buyin due to cards not hitting. No big deal. I also have not reached Silver yet. I am so curious what SUPERNOVA gets. It does not say on the Pokerstars website. Nerd? See you all tonight!

So/so night. I finished 18th in the WWDN, which while respectable, is not exactly where I wanted to be. Congrats to Maudie and Jewels for first and second! Well done ladies.

I almost made the final table. I pushed with a small stack with AT s000ted and got called by AJ. I have no idea why you people refuse to lay down your weak Aces to aggression. Instead you insist on calling off 50%-100% of your remaining chips with these hands. It is a –EV situation at best IMHO but keep playing that way I need the money. Keep paying attention. Keep calling the guy who plays the least hands at the table. Keep calling the one who hardly ever steals blinds. Keep it up. It helps me in the long run. I actually out flopped my opponent but Riverstars came through and slapped a Jack on to the end. If I win that hand I am for sure at the final table.

I played a little 2/4 LHE and a couple more MTTs. I think I was too tired for the MTTs because I did not play well at all. Oh well. I did make back everything I lost on Stars playing LHE. So far 2/4 has been my sweet spot. I would like to win some at 3/6 but it has not happened yet.

Veneno was hanging around so I tell her I will play some LHE with her. She says she is grinding away. So I go to sit at her table and she is playing 6-max. It may suit her better. I convince her to step down to a full table. Nothing was available at .50/1, so we jumped into a .25/.50 table. Veneno was not in the mood to listen to any advice. She constantly called my pre-flop raises with Kx s00ted rags and crap like that. Her rating in Poker Tracker (not surprisingly) is LA-(A/P). Depending on her mood. Loose is an understatement though as I have her seeing 49% of the flops. Wow! Veneno if you are going to be serious about LHE you need to stop this. It will NEVER be profitable. Sure you may get a night when all the flops hit you but long term you are doomed. Finally I had to quit giving her advice since she ignored me anyway.

Someone send her a copy of SSHE. Please! She needs to get her pre-flop game down solid before learning to play post flop. I think she can do it. She is a smart and tough player. The question with her is if she wants to take it seriously. The concept of playing boring, folding, poker, may not appeal to her LAG personality. It may not be a fit. So Veneno, decide what you want to do. If you like LHE then tighten up. If you get bored or distracted play something else. Not everyone is cut out for the game. I beleive in you V, but only if you really want to play the game.

Oh, and I was running pretty goot at that .25/.50 table. Something like 44/BB 100. Nice! I wonder if I could maintain that rate. I could make fifteen bucks every night! Woo Hoo!

On for tonight: The Big-O Mookie Tourney. It is the best Donkey fest ever!

oops.. sorry..

I appologise to one of my anonymous readers. I did not mean to get you in trouble. Although you really should not open gifts that are for someone else. I will attempt to mark dangerous links in the future. Although I have to say it would almost be worth it to see how you explained that to your wife. Ok, I kid, I do not want to damage any of my readers any more than my rantings have already. None of you are winning poker players are you? See! I take credit for that! On the highly ironic side however would you not be as likely to be fired from your job for surfing poker sites?

Fluxer said...

You should have gone all in on the flop. Otherwise I don't know.

-- On me Being Double Sucked Out on Last Night

Agreed. I actually respect Fluxer's opinion's alot in Poker. He is a smart, tough, player. If he ever gets properly bankrolled I bet he does some damage.

Indecision is the worse thing you can have in Poker. It is far better to fold than to not know what the hell to do. The flop came ATJ. I discarded KQ for some reason but AA scared the hell out of me. So when the initial bettor raised $13, all-in, and the other guy called I was frozen by indecision. I would have felt much better about my play in the hand if I had either folded and lost $2.50. Probably the best idea, or pushed, and got sucked out on by a two outer. Either decision was better than cold calling. I have never been happy with my results when I was not certain of my course. It happens very rarely for me but I can still remember most of the incidents. So if you are that unsure of your hand just fold.

First a little something for the Blog Father. He gives so much to us I felt I needed to give something back to him:

If you think I am on an Uber rant now. Just wait until I copy Kat and start my "100 things you wish you didn't know about SirFWALGman".

So work sucked today. I spent a week doing some work then we decided I did not need to do any of that work. Umm.. Ya. Now on the one hand I am happy the jackasses keep paying me huge sums of money to handle there incompetence. However I like to think my work has some purpose and value. It gives me that little warm fuzzy feeling.. NO NOT THERE! Kat get your mind out of the gutter! So even though I make more when they are idiots I feel like shit. Oh well. Another thirteen hour day cleaning up crap that they screwed up. Sweet.

I decided to try some 1/2 LHE tonight. Could someone tell me what went right.

I 3-bet pre-flop with KK. It gets capped five ways. Two flush cards and all unders on the flop. The flop gets capped. The turn is nothing. It gets capped four ways. The river does not make the dreaded floosh. It gets capped on the river two ways. I expect the other guy to turn over a set or AA. I guess I was a little titlty. He turns over QQ and I take an $80 pot a few hands into my game. Doubling up my buyin. I ended up leaving that 1/2 table with $140. Ending the night up around $100 or so in total.

However, do I have the best luck ever?

I decided to try some $50/NL. Could someone tell me what went wrong.

I raise 1.50 with JJ. I get re-raised another 2.50. One other person calls. It is a three way pot. My thinking in calling the additional 2.50 was if I hit a set I get laid. The flop comes ATJ. Now I am afraid someone MIGHT have AA but what the hell. The first guy raises all in. The second guy calls and I call. (Somewhat of a mistake). I have $30 behind me and the pot is $60. The turn is a K. So the second guy goes all in and I make the mistake of calling. I am sort of glad I did because it was interesting.

So what place did I come in? Well interesting that you ask. Third. Yes. You see guy number one had KK and hit his two outer on the turn. Way to push your entire stack in on the flop with the worse hand. Drawing to a two outer. Guy number two, who won btw, had AQ. Way to call off more than half your stack with a two outer gutshot straight draw and second best hand. So basically I got two outered on the turn and did not fold when I for sure should have. It would have saved me a few bucks. However, do I have the worse luck ever?

Freaking 3's

Still obsessing over my bad play. Anyway.. it was a hell of a good time. I got to make a final table with Dr. Pauly. He made the HUGE laydown I could not when I came over the top of him with my kings vs his jacks. Congrats to everyone who played. I finally got a WBPT ranking - 48th, SirFWALGMan with 116.77. We will have to fix that. Much too high. It is always nice to play for charity. Thanks to EasyCure for setting this up. His blog has some of the details of how we have helped. Cya at the next event on the tour: DADI.

Sunday, April 16, 2006

Well I went out in a stupid fashion in the blogger game. I did make it to 8th which is nice. One out of the money. However I ended up calling a huge bet with 33. I had raised it in EP, and the other guy just happened to have Aces. Oh well. It should have been an easy laydown. I was one to the money and the 50/50 was not what I wanted. I actually probably should not have raised. Oh well. What can you do. If I had folded I would have had 4K left with 1600 blinds. Which is terrible but since the big stacks were around 13K I could have worked my way back. Not happy with my finish at all actually.

Veneno Sucks

I had an up and down night. I won alot of money at 2/4 LHE, then I played a $55/SNG and lost. So I was still up a few bucks. I then made the HUGE mistake of playing Veneno HU. I got all the chips in three times as a massive (80%+ Favorite) and of course I lost to Veneno. KQ vs Q8. AJ vs A8? Nahh. No goot. A7 vs KJ no good. I mean why not call off your entire stack with KJ? It should have been the super donkey. Man you kill me Veneno! I can not get my chips in with a better edge and I CAN NOT WIN! If Veneno ever has a hand where she is ahead of me and all the money goes in she will probably fold it.

Very frustrating. So then she sits down at a 3/6 short table with me. Umm, Yes I have the bankroll to play it, and yes I was steaming mad. SO I win some more money playing 3/6 LHE short. She donks off half her bankroll and sits down with the other half. I tell her to scram and I will follow her to a .10/.25 table. Basically the third hand of the game I flop a SET, get AT to PUSH ALL IN, and VENENO CALLS BEHIND ME FOR MOST OF MY STACK!!! ARG! I knew I was doomed and actually this time she had good odds. K9d. 9 people in pre-flop for a buck. She flops a gutshot and floosh draw. I later donate my final five bucks to her when her A5 outlasts my 88. VENDETTA! VENDETTA ON VENENO! So I went back to the 2/4 ATM, won twelve bucks, ended the night up maybe six, and counted myself lucky!

Anyway.. I still like you Veneno. I just must remove the poison from my system. I would wish you good luck but you already have wayyyyy too much!

The Real Poker

This is a VERY important stage of growth in Poker. I started out running really hot and thinking skill was everything. My second year of poker was an incredibly frustrating learning experience and the fire has tempered my steel and made me stronger. Skill is important but does not guarentee you are going to win on any given day, month, or year. I will say it again: people have had bad runs for a year! All due to variance. It is a little rare but a few weeks or couple of months is totally in the realm of reality.

He was..

He was a champion and will be sorely missed. It is a fitting tribute. Probably the only time the champ would ever wear a suit. Thanks to Katitude for creating this special banner. If you ever need HTML or graphics work done she is great! Make sure you pay her well.

Iggy, Veneno, Baseball and the Week

I was hanging with my peeps Veneno and Iggy after the game. It was a blast. They were sooooo loaded it was funny as hell. Except when Veneno puked.. now that was just wrong. I guess I should not have been saying keywords like: Tilt-A-Whirl, Close your Eyes, and Spin in Reverse.. Oh well.

I think Iggy was trying to convince me to play 400/NL. Ok. Ok. Just kidding.. but I think he secretly misses my busting out posts and wants to get me creamed. You Dwarf bastard! Do not be jealous of the wayy taller than you 5"8 guys! I saw a girl for you on the way back from the train - if you ever get sick of the leggy, blonde, tall woman your married to then this little sister will do you good. She was 3" or something.. I got her number for you.

As an offshoot of our conversation I am going to do a weeklong challenge. It is as follows: I am going to play one $55/SNG a night for a whole week. So I am risking $385 of my $2K stack for seven shots at $1300. These games are a little more than I should be playing but I want to give it a try. So the range of possability is -$385 to +9100. Somewhere inbetween would be nice. If this works out I will come up with another plan to make some scratch.

The baseball game was a blast. However am I crazy or are they expensive? It would cost an average family of four sitting in great seats like $500 for one night of baseball. Hello? I got Lodge seats halfway down the 3rd base line maybe 30 seats up. The closest picture I could find was this. It does not do justice to the view though. It was excellent. My son's favorite part was when a foul ball banged off the seats right above and to the left of us. If it fell a little differently we might have been able to take one home. My daughter liked all the music and stuff. It was a real blast. Not a bad first baseball game. I ended up shelling out around $125 for a few hotdogs, drinks, two baseball hats, two wavy fingers and a small baseball bat. I am happy the tickets were free.

See you all tonight..

but I can't see laying down the Queens to guys who I know will raise with less than premium cards in a short-handed situation

err.. I think I have been insulted! VENDETTA! VENDETTA ON HOYAZO! Either that or he was insulting SoxLover.. thats ok. Perhaps both of us? TEAM VENDETTA! TEAM VENDETTA! I will hunt you down in every MTT you play and bust you! lol.

It is very interesting seeing what people think of my play.. I get WIDELY different reports.. Some people say I am uber tight. Some say I am a donkey who will raise with any two cards short handed.. other say stuff behind my back.. I actually think it is good that people can not put me on a style. I think it means I play differently when I need to or when I think I should. I hope it means that I am hard to read and take advantage of situations in different ways. Either way I enjoy the feedback.

Da Mook

Played the Mookie. High point: Mookies wife calling me an asshole. Medium Point: Busting Mookie. Low Point: Losing to Drewspop for second place in the thing. Oh well. Drewspop played a hell of a game. I keep asking myself why I play in the Mookie Tourney .. the money is no good, only five places pay at best, it is not a +EV game. So why do I continue to play? It is a VERY fun "Home Game" type of deal. There is trash talking. The donkeys are out in full force having fun and taking stacks. Vendetta's are sworn! It is one hell of a fun game. So keep them up Mooks! Gives me another hand to play anwyays.. T8o: The Mook. It won me a huge pot tonight. Thanks Mook!

Kat, Please Keep Beating me! Please!!!!

Secrets to winning.

1. Lose to Kat in the Last Longer portion of the night
2. Sing when the cards are flopping to avoid bad beats
3. Eat Celery

Well not exactly what I wanted but I guess I can accept it. I mean fourth is not so bad is it? Especially when I was down to 1900 chips at one point. Ah well. It was fun. I made one HUGE mistake and it cost me. I could have done better. I was first in chips with over 75K in chips and called off a small stacks 24K bet with bottom pair. He raised pre-flop and I thought he missed the flop. Unfortionatly he had T8o. The Mookie! Ok maybe not that but he kicked my ass.

I then ended my night with AJ vs AA. With the blinds, the fact it was 4 handed, the fact AJ is a nice hand, and the fact it is probably going HU I decided to push. Oh well. Nothing I could do about that except flop JJ. I was at a table where the final four decided to play tight like me. Soooooo I ended up being the impatient one.

All in all it was a nice win. Tomorrow I shall try again.

I miss him..

I miss Poker Champ a lot. His echoing LOLOLOL. His wise ass attitude. I am really having trouble moving on so I propose an MTT on PokerStars or Full Tilt.

The Poker Champ: Blue Veiner Memorial.

I will even put up a wife beater for the first prize winner. There are lot of DADI and WSOP events coming up so we should stage it on the first month anniversary of his demise. So I propose May 4th. Who is with me? If someone has tourney creation abilities on Stars lets hook up and get this puppy done. One last toast to the Champ!

And Remember People.. Play Like a Champion Today.

Down Night

So a down night yesterday. Not too bad. Dropped about $100. It was one of those nights at 2/4 LHE where everything you do is wrong. The type where the guys you like, you know them, the ones who call 4 bets cold with 44, and call you to the river as long as an Ace or King do not show up. Ya those guys. One of the nights where they actualy win. Oh well. Dropped the $80 at 2/4 and another $20 in Stud. I played an MTT. I was the chip leader with 30 left. The blinds were $600 and I had about 13K. It is this time in a Stud tourney where my inexperience and lack of knowlege of the game kicks in. I ended up going out around 18th or so. Maybe 20th. Oh well. Better luck tonight. I hope to be doing the Freeroll at Titan tonight.

Poker Savvy

As well as the WWDN on PokerStars. Am I ever going to get to play in the tourney of champions? Is there going to be one? Who knows? Let's ask Voltron! I think losing $100 in a night is a little steep for me. I would like to keep it down around $50-$60 at the most. Oh well. I can absorb the loss at least. I see myself playing a single buyin at 3/6-limit a night and one or two MTTs depending on how the LHE goes. That is the plan anyways.

SirF’s Theory of Small Field Poker

I probably should not publish my revolutionary findings in poker but nobody believes me anyway so what the hell. Anyways I am so inept at describing my system that nobody is going to get anything out of it anyways. First off I am going to make a typical Sir arrogant comment, here it comes, hold on to your hats: I do not think I am on a hot streak, I believe that my win rate of 1-3 games a week is sustainable.

Ouch, that was a pretty bold statement! I just believe that my style of play allows for good results in small filed MTT’s to be referred to in the rest of this article as sfMTTs. I have a very small sample size and I tend to get overly excited about success so I am willing to admit I could be wrong. We can start out with some correlating data though.

Over the past few month’s I have played:

10 – 180/22$ SNGs 1,1,2,4.
1 – 55$/SNG 1
10 – WWDNs 1,3,8
3 - 20$ MTTs <200 people 1
1 - 4$/180 0
1 - Saturday with Dr. Pauly 1

According to SharkScope I have a 68% ROI. So in a short period of time I have had a lot of success in these events. What does this prove? Nothing yet. I think that it starts a good trend and I believe that I can continue with this.

I base this off of the fact that I think the smaller the field the less luck needed. You do need to get lucky but far less often than in a large field MTT. The reason for this is that the final table stacks are going to be closer than in a large MTT and they are going to be smaller amounts. I typically see a 60-100K chip leader at worse. I can eek into the final table with 10-15K and be one double up away from being in good shape. The blinds are usually lower when the final table starts and most people do not seem to want to level up.

I think in some ways the WSOP shows this to be true. As the fields have increased the number of pro’s at the final table has decreased. As they get picked off by unlucky plays and just can not keep up. I think most people would agree anyway that the less people the less luck is needed.

I think that an overly aggressive style is necessary for success in larger field MTTs. Eeking into the money in these is not an option. You need a much larger stack to even make the final table. So the steal the blinds on the bubble type of players do much better in these types of events. In the smaller field events I believe an extremely tight, do not defend your blinds, style of play pays off.

My start game plan is the same as any tourney I enter. I usually play a loose-weak style. I try to see a bunch of flops and hit a monster in order to get paid off. It is here I am most likely to be knocked out. Once the field narrows I change strategy.

If you ask anyone who has watched me win one of these recently they will say that I was folding hands that I should not have when the field is down to 30 or less people. AQ to a raise, out the door, AK, all in, possible fold. Smaller pockets, ok I will probably limp. Instead of taking risks and trying for a 50/50 situation to catapult me to super stardom I wait. I keep waiting. Wait some more. Yup. Just a little more waiting.. and fold. Once I hit 30th place I want to get to the final table. I believe I can take top 5 if I make it there and that is my only goal.

Now do not get me wrong here. It is all situational, and if I get a good hand I will play it hard. I have no problem pushing with my AK/AQ, I just am not going to go out of my way to get into those situations unless I am pretty sure I am ahead. I am far more likely to play a hand aggressively with position or with smaller stacks left to act than calling a small stacks all in just because I have the chance to bust him out. I am sure I am not describing my technique very well. It is difficult to put a playing style down on paper. It is all so situational and read based. However I will say I am more likely to play a tight, low-aggression game, where I will be highly aggressive on any hand I decide to play. No stealing with 92o. Not a lot of trying to bust the small stack because I can.

Once I get to the final table using this strategy, as many proponents of aggressive styles of play will tell you, I obviously am usually 7-9th place. I am usually one double up away from 3-6th place. In my opinion: I am primed to win. At this point in the game I throw out M and P and Q and any other silly measures except one: The Benjamin’s. My whole goal here is to hang on while other more aggressive players pick each other off. It will happen my friends. People will get bored. Some will get scared because they can not live without an M of 15. Others will notice the blinds going up and start panicking. I will gladly let these people play off of one another. As I make twenty more here, a hundred more there, up and up I climb. I play my good hands with ultimate aggression. I am looking for them to double up. So far the talent that I have played against seems to not notice I folded the last 99 hands and they think that AJ is the place to stand up to me. I crush them and have a workable stack again and their phe@r gets the best of them and they fall out I keep climbing. Usually once I make a final table I will take top three and many times I end up winning. I like my style of play when it gets short and I trust myself to be able to take out a chip leader.

So what happens when I make 3rd? I become a totally different monster. People at my table think someone else has taken over and is playing for me. Perhaps ZeeJustin’s Grammy? I go hyper aggressive and steal blinds like crazy. I play my good cards hard as hell and scare the crap out of people. The final three usually noticed that I was a tight player and now they do not know how to adjust to my change. I do not go totally insane but I figure I have made it to the sweet spot. It is now time to bring the big bucks home to daddy. Three ways my weak Aces gain strength and I am willing to play them that way. I want to make up for all my passivity and take it out on the other players. The monster is unleashed.

So probably I am overrating my talents. Possibly I am just on a hot streak. However I hope to prove this wrong. I believe in my tourney ability in small field events and I think they can be a nice cash cow. I do not win the huge single game payoffs but a bunch of 1K wins adds up. Perhaps a slightly weaker style works better in these. Only time will tell. Until then I will enjoy! I look forward to comments from all of my readers. Many of you have way different styles of play and I respect that.

Runner Up Prize

Well I sucked in the 1 Million. Ug. I hate that shit. Oh well. I am just not ready to win that one yet. However I took this as a consellation prize.

We split for $900 before I got nailed with two BRUTAL suckouts. So I am cool with the split. It is 3AM anyways. I am fucking tired. Ouch. I guess I am playing 3/6 LHE now too. Weird. If I keep on this kind of run with games containing 200 or less people I will be to 10K soon.

Nah nah nah Kat!

Wil Wheaton: 1984

VH1. The Way it Was. 1984. Wil Wheaton. Voltron. Still Laughing.

I will Play and Represent

A lot of things going on lately and most of them are pretty good on the poker front. I have decided to play in the 1M this Sunday. I figure when BadBlood says “You not all that bad kind of at MTTs” then it is a ringing endorsement and I have to try and take it down!

Speaking of endorsements and things of that ilk I think my head has been getting more swollen than usual. It is hard to be a good humble doobie when you have groupies. It is tough when you win a bunch of contests in a row. It is so hard when people you respect give you props. It gets to be soooo difficult when you kick Gavins ass! You know I took you down boy (I crack myself up)! However it is important to try and keep it real. I have been getting a little obnoxious to the players who are learning out there. So if I called you a Donkey, Fish, Tourist, Idiot, CB, Luckbox, Moron, Fucktard, or any other unmentionable names then I apologize. I was there once and while I would hope I have graduated from donkey to somewhat-decent-when-he-plays-his-A-game I still have a long way to go. I encourage you peeps who do not seem to be able to win.. or always seem to get your money in with the worse hand.. just keep practicing. Take advice from people you respect. Read. Read. Read. Such little things in your game can open your eyes so wide and cause you to jump to that next level. You can become a winning player for sure. I will do my best not to berate you while you are trying.

I am a little tired too of how people say the MTT is all or mostly luck. I think if that were the case nobody would win consistently. All of poker is about luck including MTTs. Each facet of the game be it LHE, NLHE, MTT, SNG, etc, etc.. has a learning curve and has different kinds of skills involved. So for someone to make a blanket statement that MTTs are just luck I think is misinformed. I might have this opinion since I play smaller MTTs and cash fairly regularly. I also ITM a lot in larger field tourneys. I guess I might play a lower risk-lower luck MTT game, and I may find it hard to hit the big money in a large field tourney but its working for now. Just some thoughts.

Here is a 2+2 rant. I just do not see where the colluding is? Is it me? It seems like the typical - Bluffalo, lucky-bitch play I see at alot of high level games. Betting alot on overs, draws, etc.. I would have read all 32 pages of 2+2 monkeys ranting and congratulating each other on finding a cheater but umm.. half the posts were "Ya dude" and the other half were "How the hell can you not see this collussion!". Err. What am I missing? Any *cough* cheaters understand why someone would think this was collussion?

i have a shitload of work to do so of course i start sweating the ub 300/600 game. everything seemed normal. no big pots recently, no huge suckouts, no signs of tilt

then this happens. A is a very well-known online high limit player. B seems to be playing ok too though i have not seem him around. C is the victim and from watching, he seems to be a huge LAG. he accused them of cheating after the hand and immediately left.

i am posting this because it's extremely disconcerting. i could understand how A and B would think that C doesn't have much of a hand since he's so aggressive when he does. but even if C folded, B would've had to fold and it would've looked terrible. i can't imagine good players could be this stupid.

i'll admit i don't know how these games play but this defies all logic

Did Wil Wheaton enter a strip poker contest? Would anyone want to play strip poker with a bunch of fat pasty guys? Does anyone want to see Wil Wheatons white, scrawny, nerdy, legs besides his wife? These questions and more not answered at The Toque.

Congrats to Katitude on wining the Mookie Back to Back! Go Girl! You Rock!

Nah Nah Kitty

I just won an Entry to the BIG FUCKING GAME. No not that one. The 1,000,000 Guarenteed on Stars this Sunday.

When Katitude beat me in the WWDN I went and played a $55/SNG and won $1100. Nah Nah Kat! When Katitude beat me in the Mookie I went and played a 1500FPP Entry into the 1,000,000 Sunday game. Nah Nah Kat! PLEASE KEEP BEATING ME BABY!

Here are the parameters:

Cost: 1500FPPP's
Valuation: $150 or so. I beleive T$ are worth less then W$?
Bankroll: $1087.
Entrants: Usually 5000 or more.

So here is my question. Please everyone weigh in.

Would you play the big game or would you sell your entry for T$ based on the T$ being worth 15% of your bankroll or so. If you would play, then why, if you would sell then why.

6 for 6

How is that for a badish beat? 91.7% or so on the flop. Ah well. Congrats to Mookie! I can not fault him for making the call. So Kat goes 6 for 6 in outlasting Sir in the last 6 MTTs we have been in together. Grr.

Tilt Types

i know ur kinda kiddin around - but once u discipline urself to fix this u'll be amazed at the $ u saved, and once u realize it it should be pretty easy to quit tilting - unless u like losing $ while being mad and out of control.
- JD,

I actually do not think it is that easy to fix. I have one form of tilt and it sucks bad. Basically I hate losing. I used to hate losing over short periods of time. So if I was down alot for one night because of variance I would try and win it all back.

Now I am better with that. However I have short-term-swing Tilt. I basically try and win things back faster than I should when lets say I lose for 3-4 days due to some bad beats and see my bankroll drop below a certain level. It also can be brought on by Yo-Yo Tilt which is winning a few hundred, losing it, winning it, losing it, winning it, and finally getting fed up.

I also do not think I play badly on my form of tilt. I play well. I just play above levels my bankroll can aford which NEVER works out. Ok, maybe you can pull it off once, twice, ten times even, but eventually it will come and bite your ass.

So that is my story. Obviously I do not want to suffer these afflictions, and someday I *think* I will have the "Its just poker mentality" but I think that takes a lot of practice to develop.

Kats Dance, Clocks Fly, 2006 is Odd, and Garth Gives Advice

I am Stripper By Night
How are you all on this fine 01:02:03 04/05/06? Yeah, I am a nerd – sue me. Not much news. I may need to take a few days off playing poker to make some money at my second-side job.

I will be playing the Mookie tonight as long as I do not crash and burn in the snowstorm on the way home. Tonight’s Mookie is very special: Kats First Dance. It is named for Katitudes first MTT win last week. Now if we can get Veneno to play (and she wins) we can name next weeks “Take that Bitch!”. Katitude has gone 5-0 vs me in the last five MTTs we have been in. Oh yea, it burns. Last night at the WWDN I went out early when my Pocket Rockets got creamed by Sailboats. No bad plays on either side. Basically I was against someone I would classify as *cough* average. So I could put her on anything from AK, KQ, or lower to a set or even a flush draw. It *might* have been a good idea for me to fold there and against a better opponent I may have but I can live with my move against this particular opponent.

I am also taking the Garthmeister Challenge. I asked my good friend Garth what he thinks I should focus on for the near future. So he suggested I try five 20$-180/SNGs. I think that is a fine idea. So that is what I am going to do for the next few days.

Last but not least. I know mathematical theory works on known facts and not unknown factors. Unless your talking about Chaos theory. However. Do an experiment. Deal yourself 20 cards from a deck. Pick a suit. Now how many times did you deal 20 cards and 3 of that suit not come up? If we run that scenario a million times I bet the percentages of a single suit not being in those twenty cards would be small. So when we play full ring games and draw to our flush because we have “9” outs, do we really? Should we factor it at like 7 if it is full ring, 8 if it is six-handed, and a full 9 if it is HU? Could Veneno be onto something here? Betting her draws with the full amount of outs? Hmm. Just some food for thought. I am sure just like my many other theories someone has already suggested this and has a cool name for it and everything.

Not my Night

Not a good night. I start of in the WWDN getting my Aces cracked by 44. I then make the round of 16 in the World Cup tourney only to get called by a 15K stack when I had 8K. I had TPTK he had the 2nd nut flush draw. So basically I win that hand and it is over.

The only good thing besides Kats hubby walking in on the two of us kissing was that the SharkScope rates me as a shark. Silly thing.

I am NOT PokerChamp

I feel as if someone killed my brother. *sigh* You will be missed. However I will continue to play like a champion.

Let's go down the list of suspects.

CJ - He says he is Poker Champ but honestly, no Luckbox factor in his game. Sorry CJ, but you would have won on a suckout.

Maigrey - Hmm.. While it would be interesting for her to tell herself to sit on her face I am sorta doubting this happened. Besides they were both on at the same time playing the same table so unless she is admiting to pulling a Zee she is out.

Maudie - It was way past her bedtime.

DuggleChicken - I will beleive that one when he makes a final table anywhere. Stick to the cash games son. (I am so mean to him).

AlCantHang - Not drunk enough.

Fluxer - Hmm.. He was Fluxer's hero, but I do not think Flux is connected enough to pull this off. It is for sure one of the "Popular" kids.

Iggy - Hmm, The Dwarf was not accounted for during the tourney. He "fell asleep" after 6th place, Champ ended up in 5th. Also Champ was "Invited" by Iggy to play. Hmm. Possible. He is famous for his impish practical jokes.

Ok.. I give up. Screw you all for killing my brother though!

MTT Bankrolls

Again, nice job. Have a question for you, what limits do you play in relation to your bankroll (cash and tourneys) ?

Congrats !

-- Mookie

HAHAHAH! I love Mookie! Did you not read that was my last 55 bucks.. but when I am being reliable:

10$ and Under with a 1K Bankroll
Start playing a few $20's with a $1200 bankroll..
Take a stab at something bigger every once in a while.

MTTs are so weird and you can go a long time without a cash. It is "usually" a good idea to keep a large amount of padding if that is your only source of income. I guess 100x the buyin is not a bad rule of thumb. I rarely ever play more than 1-2 games a night so I could probably play higher. Since I am a TILT head though I like to keep my loses low in relationship to my bankroll.

I am actually itching to play another 90-person $50 MTT. I think that, as I have mentioned before, small field MTTs are a very good fit for my style. I can wait a little, get close to the final table, then make a couple of moves, and BAM! I am in like Flynn.
I have the most success in <200 person MTTs although to be fair I do not play a whole lot of the other type. I have never gotten first place in a HUGE field, actually scratch that, I did do VERY well in the Party Poker 1$ and 2$ MTTs for a while. I final tabled in a large LHE MTT once also for one of my biggest scores. I would have to say my largest scores have been around 1K. It would be nice to take down a larger event one day and I think I have the skills to do it. Until then I am happy where I am.

** BTW: I am sure other people have good advice, please post it in the comments section.

Congratz!!! the latest winner(s) of seats to the WSOP. Iggy was kind enough to donate his hard earned cash to enable two seats to be given away. A dwarf with a giant heart for sure! I watched alot of the final two tables of this game and it was a battle. Congrats to all of the bloggers who made it that far. Congrats to Radio Head for winning the second seat and Lucko21 (I forgot your blog) for the first.

At 3AM when I finall succumbed to bed Radio had a HUGE lead on the final table. I would also like to congratulate GCox, TripJax and Soxlover for making the final two tables. That group of Bloggers seems to do well in alot of these events. Solid play by GCOX especially as he was almost down to the felt and ended up hanging in for third.

Pokerchamp finished a solid 5th. Play like a Champion boys and girls! Like I have said before: Good Poker Player, Could stand to grow up a little. No exception tonight as his taunting hat was on. He must style himself as the Phil Helmouth of Poker. I actually put $50 against him winning. Sorry Champ! It was when he had 20K in chips and was the small stack. I just did not see him coming back. He did play a great final table, waiting for his chances, and coming damn close to costing me money.

Maigrey was my pick for winner when it was down to two tables. TOUGH. TOUGH. Player. I have alot of respect for what I have seen and heard of her game. Of course my picks never win. SORRRY!

Holy shit April! Damn close! You too Mookie! Kaelin. I gotta get to work so NO LINKS FOR YOU! I can not wait for the next event. I hope it has a happier ending for me.

What did I learn

So what did this teach me? Well.. I learned it is not worth fighting over the last $400 when you are both from the East Coast and you can make a deal. I learned that I HATE PEOPLE WHO PLAY .25/.50 LHE so much that I would kill one on site. I learned that torturing myself at low limit LHE hurts.. alot.. and I will never do it again. I will also not be tilting anytime soon, because, even though it was only a day it sucked. I learned that I do really good when I play angry I hate you maverick poker. I learned that my last (x) dollars is usually good for a huge win in the 180/SNG or the 90/SNG. I learned that the 90/SNG is alot easier than the 180/SNG and I like my chances against any random 90 donkeys. I learned that Gavin Smith is a great player featured on Card Player and I knocked his AQ loving ass out of the tourney so I am better than he is and I should be on Card Player.

Ok.. Ok. I might be pushing that last one a little. Props to Gavin for pushing his AQ against my 88 with an M<5. If he won that hand I would have been the short stack and he would have gone on to win the whole thing like me.

Anyway I am exhausted as I always am when I play my best. I am elated at winning 1125 after the split. I am greatful to have a bankroll for the 1/2 LHE game again and I am going to sleep.
