So..

I decided to try some 1/2 LHE tonight. Could someone tell me what went right.

I 3-bet pre-flop with KK. It gets capped five ways. Two flush cards and all unders on the flop. The flop gets capped. The turn is nothing. It gets capped four ways. The river does not make the dreaded floosh. It gets capped on the river two ways. I expect the other guy to turn over a set or AA. I guess I was a little titlty. He turns over QQ and I take an $80 pot a few hands into my game. Doubling up my buyin. I ended up leaving that 1/2 table with $140. Ending the night up around $100 or so in total.

However, do I have the best luck ever?

You've followed the main rule of LHE on this hand.

Bet the hell out of your big hands if nothing tells you to stop. If someone had AA, I could see why you'd have reason to complain. But, I wouldn't tell you to play it any differently.

For KK to hold up unimproved with that much action...yes, pretty lucky.

When do you slow down?

When the board tells you to do so, really. If the flush had hit (or a straight), then you slow down and let KK go if that's the case.

It sounds like you're playing with a bunch of maniacs, so you can't really put anyone on a hand. In that case, if no scare cards show up, then bet the hell out of everything you have. I even bet OESDs and flush draws if they have a chance to be the nuts. Aggression is really key in LHE. If an Ace had shown up on the turn, I'd consider the pot size and then bet accordingly (although with that many people raising, I'd probably call anyway and then call the turn). If it showed up on the river, I'd just call there too.

Sure, as DuggleBogey says, there's some luck involved, but when you play low-limit LHE, the only thing that should tell you to stop is the board or your read on a player. I always go to showdown with maniacs because they could be raising with anything.

Do you have the hand history for this hand? What the hell were these guys raising with?

Great pot!

This hand had all the makings of a random straight suckout at micro limits. I would have bet the same with cowboys but would be fully expecting to see 63off at the showdown.

Seems like Troll and Krofty were both on draws. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

I had the same thing happen to me when I had AA and my opponent had QQ. If you need reassurance about what people are playing, pay attention to what they do pre-flop. The reason I kept raising my aces is the guy who held QQ capped it pre-flop, so I knew he wasn't on a draw.

Well done, Waffles!
